I received money in a PayPal account due to Cleo’s deceptive practices. Not only that - they force you to split your “payout” into as many increments as they can, then charge you 9 dollars for each transfer. So not only do you pay for their silly subscription, you pay 9 dollars to receive 40 dollars. So on and so forth. So you end up paying $40 dollars in transfer fees. Weird cause other apps I’ve used charge like 6-7 dollars for one several hundred dollar transfer. Cleo charges almost 10 bucks a tiny transfer. Sure, the app can float you if you’re short on money - but best believe Cleo will extract every dollar they can from you. Even after being sued.

They do give cash advances, but they scam you out of a lot of money the way they do it. Example: Approved of $200, but you can only take out $40 a day AND it’s a $7 charge to deposit the money instantly EVERY TIME, or you have to wait about to week each time to receive your money. Huge scammers would not recommend

It’s dumb that I am eligible for a cash advance but it never goes through

So the problem with this is app is it will give you a total amount that you can advance say $200. But then it forces you to take out very small increments per day so $40 a day and you can only do it every 24 hours. They say this is so you can budget your money, but forcing me to only get a very small portion of what I actually need is not helping me with my money. What it actually is, is a money grab because you have to pay an $8 fee and sometimes more every single time you get your money quickly. So while the app can help you out if you’re in a tough spot, the games that they play in the fees that they make you pay or not great options out here.

Great at first, fun to use and helpful but the cash advance area took a turn and wouldn’t allow me any advances due to some technical error. I tried to resolve this many times with Cleo AI and customer service in messages and email but there was little to no help in resolving. Maybe I’ll try it again in the future and change my mind.

I am advising people to avoid using this app, if you ever have a problem, or an issue, or if they overcharge you, there’s literally no way to get ahold of a human representative, you will be stuck in a perpetual loop of talking with their AI, it’ll let you submit a ticket, but nobody will respond, I have submitted a ticket a week ago or so, and I have still yet to hear back on anything in regards to my issue

Horrible service false advertisement

I asked for a quick same day advance it charged me the fee then it saying I can't get it until 3-4 business days which is when it's due so I'll have to pay the loan and fee back same days it's due so I really didn't borrow the money when I need it this is pretty sketchy and still charging for express. I talked to customer service didn't even look into helping just said can't do nothing and never came back to chat customer service is horrible.

This app used to be good until they switched over to Cleo AI. The fees are WAY higher than any other app I’ve used and they want you to pay a higher monthly fee than before as well. Sometimes you just need that extra little advance to get to payday. The best part about Cleo cash advance is you don’t get it all in one lump sum so you don’t spend it all in one lump sum! Definitely makes it go farther.

This place is very terrible and gives false information about how much money you can get from it. I’ve had enough money in my account multiple times and it tells me I’ve got over $500 to get but will only give $30 and say unavailable to get anymore money. I read an article about them being sued for lying to customers,I hope they go bankrupt and go out of business. Stay away from this terrible company!!

They’ll increase your borrow limit to $200 for example, but only let you request in increments of $40. They charge you the repay amount of $7-$8 for each request, meaning if you actually borrowed the whole $200- $40 at a time- you would have to pay back $35-$40 in the fees alone. Charging $8 once is fair, but this company makes way too much money to get away with taking an extra $40 back too. Pretty crooked.

I can not recommend this app for cash advances. They give it to you in two halves. You can't draw it all at one time. The scam part is they charge $7.95 every time you draw money. It's reason they want let you get it all at once so keep charging a convenience fee.

Your app is not user-friendly. You should apply for a builder card and there is no such thing. I want to spend like your instructions are and there is no prompt or button to get to builder card.

I created an account with Cleo to try and get an advance for which I was approved. I paid the membership fee and upon entering my information was told that my SSN was in use on another account so I immediately reached out to support in case of a potential data breach and to try and have my Social Security removed from this other account. That was a month ago. I provided all of the information asked for and was told that someone would reach out to me within one to three days. It has been so long that I have now been charged for a membership again and I’m still not able to reach support. I can’t even open a new ticket as Cleo only allows. You to have one open support case at a time. Truly despicable business practice.

I will say that Cleo is very easy to get money when needed. What I don’t like is that it fluctuates and will go down (ie: from $680 to $400) especially when Cleo is attempting to pull the autopay 1 day early, NOT following the agreement. If it’s set to pull on the 1st, don’t attempt to pull early (ie: 5pm on the 30th/31st because that’s going to cause a ding on me if the $ isn’t there because my direct deposit does not hit until 7:45 PM) although YOU are not following the set payment plan. I also feel like if each loan is paid back then what you’re allowed to borrow should not decrease for one loan just to go back higher next time. Good payment history should allow an increase. So at this point, I’ve decided I will just add an extra day of buffer so that I can ensure the money is in the account but that is why I would only give it only 3⭐️ not 4 or 5 stars.

This app has become a long shark. The fees are getting out of hand. The subscription fee then the 8.49 fee which only let you draw a certain amount per transaction. The require 2-3 transactions and the fee is for each transaction. Please stay away from these predatory loans.

When approved for $180 cash advance, and my daily limit is set for $40 a day. If I’m in need of money to help cover bills, why can I not take out the whole $180? Or why do I have to be charged an express fee for every $40 to get up to the 180 for? I’m paying an extra $25 because of the express fee policy. I understand I can choose. For it to go to my bank, but that takes 4-5 days. The app should let you take out the full amount or it should only charge the express fee one time for the amount you are approved for.

Please don’t use this app. They take money out of your account even after you cancel their subscription. They cancelled the subscription before the subscription was due. This app sent a request to my bank to take money out of my account that I didn’t owe them. This app in so intrusive and evasive it’s disgusting. Also when I requested a refund. The customer service rep said that the payment they requested from my bank would be returned once it finished processings they did not do that. I went to request my money forty days after the process and then they hit me with another excuse saying if you borrowed money within the last thirty days you can’t get refund. They are scamming. And are definitely not to be trusted. I wish it was more that I can do. I’ll just wait on the class action lawsuit bc I’m pretty sure one day and one day soon they will be facing one. I have spent hours trying to link my payroll and account thru plaid and it keeps saying something went wrong. But nothing is wrong. The app is terrible and took 39$ from me to waste 2 hours for nothing. I’m very disappointed in this service!

I’ve been having this problems for months. When it’s time for me to borrow the page just goes blank. I tried updating, resetting my phone, etc nothing works. But they will continue to take monthly fees out but when it’s time for me to borrow I can because the app doesn’t even work

From the get go my repayment dates have been incorrect even though I’ve asked over & over again to talk to a live person to correct this I get told my AI Cleo that there’s nothing that can be done to fix this which makes it basically an unusable app for advances!! Ridiculous!!

Not eligible for an advance for the last couple weeks since these last app updates. Never had a problem with repayment ever so I don’t know why. Can’t get any help of course cause you’re talking to a computer which is annoying. But what Cleo can still do is take money for a Plus account. So I’m literally paying for nothing! The AI interface is not good. We have Cleo to get a cash advance I do not need an AI companion to talk about finances I would not be on the apps if I could “budget" and simply "manage my money". Know your target audience and it is not the people who can afford to budget.

I’ve never had any problems with Cleo so far. Even though it says there’s a 24 hour cool down. After you repay a cash advance, that’s never happened to me. The same amount or more is always immediately available. UPDATE 9-28-26 Surprisingly, everything is still going great. I have been at the daily $170 maximum advance amount for some months now. Of course I always pay off my advances before the due date & in full. Personally, that’s the main thing I use it for. I can’t really contribute much or speak to much about using the budgeting tool long-term. I have used it and it’s been beneficial. It’s just more difficult when I’m not able to link every single one of my accounts that has income coming in & certain accounts that can’t be linked that I use for purchases. I will continue to use and do highly recommend.

They are the greediest out of most cash advance app. I warn you they will charge you more and offer you less in comparison to any of the other main cash advance apps. Dave, Albert, MoneyLion, Tilt, FloatMe, and Grant are all way better options than CLEO.

They’re basically like all of these other payday advance apps. The difference with this one is that they’ll offer u an amount, let’s say 300 and break it up into 3 separate loan transactions and charge you $10 for each $100. So the offer looks like it’s a pd loan for 300 but it’s for $100 at a time and you’ll end up paying $30 for it.

The app is great. It works when you’re in a pinch don’t get me wrong. That’s always a good thing. The problem with the app is that you’re told the total amount that you’ll be given as a loan but you only get like chunks of that loan every like 12 hours or whatever it is. so let’s just say for instance like you get approved for $500 you only get like $100 every 12 hours like but to pay it back you have to pay it back in full. It’s really in like you pay the fee every time you get these loan payout so it’s it’s screws the Customer in the end.

My cash advance usually ranges from 400-600, well this week I paid it early and for some reason it dropped it all the way down to 160. Nothing has changed, my spending is the same, my account balance is the same, my direct deposits are still the same but for some reason they thought it would be a good idea to lower it by 440$. Tried all I could to get it back up by disconnecting and reconnecting my bank account but it’s staying at 160. Definitely won’t be using this anymore if it’s gunna stay at that. Literally turned into one of the worst cash advance apps. Thank god I did enough overtime to pay it off and be done with Cleo, it’s way too inconsistent.

My daily limit on my advance has dropped while my total advance amount has increased. It doesn’t make sense. I do not want to have to wait 5 days—within 24 hours of each other, to take out a $40 advance to receive the full $200 you guys have approved me for. That’s over $35 in daily fees 😲🫩 you guys are benefiting and I’m taking a hit and having to pay back even more money because you won’t just simply let me have all the money at once so I can get hit with one fee. While my advance amount has increased, my daily limit has decreased…but I paid my advance back in a timely manner with all of the ridiculous daily fees. This feels unethical, like you guys are taking advantage of people who are in need of the advance, especially after the repayment from the last advance was IMMEDIATELY, all at ONCE (no waiting for you guys’ money on your end!!) deducted from our pay, leaving a financial gap of over $130 in my personal situation, that can only be filled within 4 days. Bills do not wait for daily limits 😭 this is an awful setting, not beneficial to the customer at all!!

They literally only let you pull up to forty dollars a day and have to wait twelve hours before you can pull more on your advance. Plus they charge a six dollar and ninety nine cent fee every time you pull money.

I don’t think it’s worth the monthly fee. I’ve paid back money consistently and never received an increase. When I try to cash out 3-4 days so I don’t have to pay the fee, it fails. But then it works when I opt for instant. They just want you to pay the fee. Also whenever it does decide to work and I opt to receive the payment in 3-4 days I get it well after and by then it’s due. It’s just not convenient.

Pay $14.95 a month just to be offered a $20 advance when money gets tight? Then pay another $4.42 if I need an instant transfer? Cleo, please be serious. That’s $19.37 in subscription and transfer fees to access $20 that I STILL have to pay back. The math is insulting. If I’m borrowing $20, clearly every dollar matters. Charging me almost that much between a monthly membership and an instant transfer fee feels like adding another bill to the problem I came to solve. For what I was charged and offered, this is absolutely not worth it. I needed breathing room, Cleo—not another hand in my pocket. And that $250 cash advance you’ll never see it. This app will lend you money - when it’s working. They only allow you to take out so much per day so that they can maximize on processing fees, which is predatory. This app works consistently when it’s time for them to get their payments - just not always when you need to access an advance. Additionally, you can have the exact same income and the same expenses and there will be months that they offer you lower advance levels, which they claim is based on your spending habits, but they shouldn’t have the right to punish people that have higher expenses some pay periods than others, that’s also predatory. My final issue with this app is that although they have access to all of your finances and when your paychecks are deposited, they can’t for the life of them seem to have consistent payback dates for cash advances, structured around your pay dates. This app has crashed or not loaded on me so many times that I’ve also had to re-download it more than once.

I have been using Cleo for a while; the only thing I have had issue with, is that you can only withdraw part of your allowed amount, in 24 hour intervals, if you have to get a new tire, you need more than $55-$80, at the time. Other than that it has worked fine. Also, to note the amount approved varies from time to time..

The app promised a loan of $250. Once I signed up for the monthly fee of $5.99 I was only offered $30. There are way better apps out there. Total waste of time!

You start off with a decent amount which they only let you take a partial of an amount out at a time and they charge you a fee with each transaction. For example If you have $200 available they let you pull $50 and charge you a side fee of $5.99, you wait 24hrs for the next amount to be available and still only $50 with a express fee amount which varies on the amount that available to borrow and each time there’s a cool down period. By the time you’ve borrowed the full amount you owe back the $200 plus an additional $20-30 in fees and after you repay it they’ll drop the amount down on you. You can go from $500 to $20 in a cycle period. Not a great trust in the company.

Don’t use this app it’s bs they don’t want to help when your money gets stolen. I’m an Amazon delivery driver that’s apart of the Cleo builder paying $14.99 monthly I lost my card and someone found it and use my card. I told them what happened they kept telling me they can’t do nothing I already talked to the merchant they told me get in contact with my bank. Wrong they don’t offer you anything different from the 5.99 and your advance changes every day and that’s not an exaggeration. They go lower and lower, also the fees are high 6 bucks for 20 is crazy. And I thought the atm was bad. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I asked for a refund since I didn’t use the service and was told through chat they can’t issue refunds through chat, and don’t have a phone support team. So no refund for me 8.99 gone for nothing.

Cleo will display that you are approved for x amount of funds, but will only distribute it in small increments at a time, while charging you high fees. Meanwhile, the full amount is never actually available because they will not release the full amount within three days of repayment. Buyer BEWARE!

It gives you specific amount max advance you can access one day, with availability of withdraw once every 24 hours, then day by day IT DROPS until they say “youre not qualified to withdraw until proof you have enough money to pay it back” BUT ITS LITERALLY FOR TIMES WHEN YOU NEED CASH? They won’t pull their own membership fees out of the money they have their account so now not only am I late for payment I can’t request in advance even though they have all of my money. I love that Cleo approved me right away for $300 (I usually get offered $10-$50). It’s easy to use too! Now, I even have the Cleo Card, which is basically a debit card.. and I deposit my advances right into my Cleo account and I can even deposit cash from my bank account into that account or the other way around.

Too low for subscription

This app is worst of all. It charges 6 dollar for getting $20. And also $6 for subscribing. At the end you are charging almost 80% interest for holding a week your money.

They screwed me over so many times. They randomly take money out of your account with no explanation. They send your money where ever they want instead of where you choose to have it sent!

Gave it 5 stars so consumers will see this! Should be minus 10. No advance, my payroll is direct deposited into my PayPal , not to much I can do there to change that. Pay monthly to keep getting rejection. No Thank you! You and these other rip off cash advance apps need to get with the program, quit charging such ridiculous fees, and if I have a checking account number and routing number with PayPal why on earth is this not compatible

I have never had issues until now. I have available credit to use yet I am unable to order a new card because mine expired and everytime I try it says “try again in 10 minutes system is having difficulty” when trying to speak to someone for help it’s mostly AI and there has been no resolution in over 2 weeks.

Cleo is one of the worst cash advance companies out there! For a $30 cash advance I’ve already paid double back in fees. I am closing my account today. Don’t be stupid like I was run as fast as you can from this App!

Love that I can borrow money and they help manage and track my spending. Will recommend them to friends.

Open this stupid account back in August 1 was supposed to get my debit card August 19 here it is September 11 and still no debit card. They don’t have a phone number to contact anybody. Everything you have to do you have to go into a chat portal you have to pay for a 14.99 subscription every month just for you too get your direct deposit to go into your account. They take money out your account without your permission.

Must first pay for “subscription into higher plan to be able to request cash advances… then you pay for to subscribe to that level with what little funds you only have in order to access your cash advance to then only unlock a $20 cash advance with a $4.95 instant transfer fee

A new update is needed since there are no live CSR’s. Account states advance was given but still hasn’t landed. Tends to do that. Mistakes happy it’s never at the right time. 😏

I never subscribed to plus or gave you permission to deduct money from my account and your telling me that I can’t have a refund, I will seek litigation against your company because I never subscribed to anything

They need to do a better job with navigating the app. It’s awful trying to find certain things. I still haven’t been able to find where I input the small deposits made into my acct! Super annoying.

Won't let me transfer directly to bank. Always wants me to add to the card to add the fee. Other than that it's good

You guys don’t give near enough advance

Great app to help me manage my Cash! 🔥🤖 I needed an app that looks at my bank data and tells me how I’m spending my paychecks and how to save better. Cleo does all of this for me and I’ve been able to save a lot more because of the AI chat. I have also been able to cut bad spending habits, like eating out too much!

Sometimes I have had trouble with the app but usually resolved quickly . Very flexible on repayment terms .

Been waiting on someone to reply and verify my account but they log off on you and make you wait 30min for reply then again. You can’t call them only go through AI then connect to human that also takes hours. I just want to use my money but they refuse to help and hold your money hostage. At this point this new change over is fishy been with them since day one but the quality and accuracy with the 3rd party human customer service is absolutely horrible and not safe. They can just steal your info. Be smart potential customers and don’t use them they up charge too much and don’t deliver. They are getting or got sued for it.

This guys took 255 from account but after transaction I was only able request 50. SCAM!!! Don’t download Cleo

You get a very low amount already, but they will split it up. So say they give you a $100 advance, you can only pull out $20 that day and have to pay a $7.99 fee. You cannot withdraw another additional $20 until another 24 hours, and so on and so forth for the remaining $100. On top of the other fees you have to pay just to have an account! SCAM!!

Cleo makes it impossible to do the transfer to your bank account in 3 to 4 days. When you do this, it says please try again. It says it on and on and on. If you go and do the instant transfer, it goes right through and Cleo earns all that extra money on you. I’ve emailed them to talk about it and they always blame it on your bank which it is not the banks fault. I know that myself asked for the advanced because I’m running short on money and when they charge that transfer fee, it makes it even more harder. I thought they were here to help a customer not take more money.

This is a great app to use . They always are there when you need them in more than one way.

Horrible! I was using Cleo for 2 months. Everything was good. My last advance they charged my account instead of debit card and it’s been days since I can’t take an advance. Trying to get in touch with customer service was a joke since their AI feature didn’t understand what I was saying. There are much better advance services out there with humans to help. Don’t waster your money. Also they don’t let you take the advance all at once. Which in return you pay a fee for each advance. I got 100.00 and if I took a 25.00 advance a day which that’s all they let you take you have to pay an additional 14.99 each advance. Please don’t waste your money. We work too hard to throw it away to companies like this

One week I’m able to request $400 and the next week Cleo drops it down to $100. And you can only take a small increment of the total per day with a high payback rate attached to each withdrawal.

They take for ever to repay the advance then tell you your not available to get another advance after making you wait 5 days for nothing

I paid $14.99 for a plus account in claims of being offered a certain amount of money and was offered $20. The tool $14.99 out of my account and offered a $20 loan This is a scam and you will be reported

The borrowing power is never the same one from $60 down to 25 up to 30 and then back down to 25 all in a matter of a week with no changes I wasn’t like paying the app or anything
