Confusing Sinking Funds
My finances are in much better order now that I use EveryDollar. But the Sinking Funds are so confusing.

Super great love this app! It makes it super easy to budget with my husband. We have implemented this practice since our wedding day and we have had zero money fights because there is full transparency and we’re on the same page.
We confirmed the slowness and lack of a truly working instant “drag from top of screen to update now” update feature was NOT the fault of our bank by comparing against a competitor’s product and realized we can no longer accurately budget with Dave’s app.
I gotta say, I was super frustrated that the monthly subscription for this was so high. My husband and I are trying so desperately to pay off our debt and I got my hopes up after watching so many of his videos talking about paying down debt. I refuse to pay to anything unnecessary. He talks a big talk of people not spending their money when they trying to pay off debt and then charging almost 20$ a month to use his app to pay down their debt.
I like the app but am really confused as to why I can no longer use or update the app on my Mac. Very strange and upsetting.
Why are all my planned budget numbers are seen as zero prior to actually spending the money? When I click on the budget item, then I could see the planned expense or income amount
I love the baby steps and this EveryDollar budget app. We started about 7 years ago with baby steps and paid off all debt including the mortgage at the age of 50. Unfortunately we purchased a new car and tractor on credit with all that extra freed up income. We sure messed that up. Recently I decided to get back on track and we just started the EveryDollar app this last week, it certainly clears up where the money is to be placed and keeps us knowledgeable about our spending habits. We cleaned out the savings account down to $1000 and paid down the remaining debt to just over $5k. That debt should be cleared up in the next couple of months and gets us back to baby step 3, build our 6 months emergency fund which should be fully funded by June of this year. After that we have it made. Step4 invest 15% into retirement. Step 5 is not an issue as we do not have children and step 6 is already completed. We will be into step 7 by July or August of this year and plan on a comfortable early retirement at 62. Thank you for all your help!!!
Would give 5 stars if I could change the start and end date of my budget. I get paid one a month on the 23rd so it’s hard when I can only make the budget start on the 1st.
I had the paid version in the past then let it lapse and did manual. Decided to try paid again for the convenience of it auto tracking for reconciliation. I don’t love that it takes days for things to show up but I guess that’s no different than the bank. What really worries me is seeing transactions that aren’t mine or aren’t correct and that I can’t find in my bank history direct. What and whose are these transactions. I’ve reached out to support so hopefully this gets explained or corrected.
Great stuff
Very helpful budgeting app. A bit pricey for the premium version though.
Even if I have not been budget minded for a while, checking back in with the basic principles and guidelines helps me get back on track.
1 year review. It’s a great app, but needs more functionality for the price. When doing year-end reviews of expenses, this app has less functionality than desired. Difficult to review all transactions easily per category at the end of the year. Would be nice if it could share metrics like where I spent most of my money per category.
Appreciate this app. I was very frustrated when YNAB could not sync with my bank consistently. Every Dollar syncs just fine and while the UI is not as pleasing to the eye, it does the job.
This is a much needed help for he! Like my personal accountability partner
If you like being forced to login repeatedly, this is the app for you. I’ve had to login three times this month…frustrating. Time to shop for another app.
I’ve tried and paid for so many different apps to try and manage my money and none have worked as well as EveryDollar. I can create custom categories, track my progress for each category, and quickly assign transactions. Also love that I can see a filtered list of transactions by category and what percentage of my income is going where.
I’ve been using this app for years and always greatly appreciated it! And I just realized what the Paycheck Planning feature offers – exactly what I was looking for to know how long to delay spending and how much I should have in my account all along the way. Thanks so much!
A little difficult to understand setup, but once you get it set up it’s really helpful for tracking expenses. That said, it really needs a widget for iOS so you can actually enter expenses without standing around in a store waiting for the app to load
I don’t care what anyone else says. This is the best budgeting app ever. Download it and change your life.
This is a game changer for budgeting. The tutorials and regular webinars with Ramsey make it easy to get answers to any questions you have!
This is for me by far the perfect budgeting app. The only problem is it doesn’t sync to your bank account right away. I updated the app, etc and still it will take forever to update. Correct me if I’m wrong but I think it will only update after 12 EST? How I wish they didn’t change whatever they use before
I love this app but ranking 3 stars because I pay for premium and sometimes it takes FOREVER to pull my transactions over. Currently waiting 4+ hours. Fix this plz!
I’ve been trying to set up the “budget” section and it is not letting me get passed the “giving” section. I’m not donating my money to anyone or anything. I put random things in there and it still does not let me move forward.
It’s the number one budgeting app 👌
The app is pulling in both the pending transaction and the finalized transaction making it so that many of my costs are double counting. I can delete one of them (and I do) but why is it suddenly doing that? Also, I’d rather it went back budgeting and accounting costs than pre-loading the educational piece. I’m debt free - I don’t want to be dropped into that page automatically.
Make it a habit to track spending and it’s gets super easy. This app makes it simple. Can adjust it to make it work for you. Takes a couple months to get used to tracking ALL your households spending, but very helpful. We pay for the premium version ad will continue to.
If someone from Ramsey solutions is reading this, please let me know how to get credit for my purchase or a year credit so that I can finally use it. Troy L Whitfield
I like the app but there are so many updates that it feels like I have to log back in nearly every time I go to use it. It’s annoying and the mild improvements aren’t worth the inconvenience of finding the login and password yet one more time.
I’ve had the app for almost 3 years and I don’t think there is a reason to use anything else!
Glad I didn’t pay for a subscription for this app bc it doesn’t work pass give part of the budget
This app is incredible and life changing. For real. Get the premium version, completely worth it.
This app is truly a financial game changer! You will see crucial insights into your personal financial portfolio to make changes and build wealth.
As soon as you sign up, you have to pay
Love this app!
I like all the budget tips and the setup. Easy to use and I have it connected to my bank so I can keep a more accurate record on my bank account.
I liked EveryDollar quite a bit when I first started using it 3 years ago but the bugs are so frequent now I am thinking of switching even though it is free to us through my husband’s work. Biggest issues are that my checking and savings accounts won’t update for days on end, even up to 10 days. I opted to use credit cards to have a quicker turn around on the app but now I am getting both pending and approved charges showing as two different charges. The amount of double checking I need to do to make sure everything is accurate is starting to wear on me.
This app has it all, transaction tracking budgeting tool to help get your emergency fund saved nd so much more. Absolutely amazing app
We started out using this app for about a year when we moved to the USA. It was reasonably good at downloading our transactions from US based accounts but because my wife and I have a cross border business, it was not able to capture anything in Canada. We found another app called Monarch that works much better for our situation. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a refund even a partial refund from the Ramsey people for this app because we were a few weeks after the annual renewal and we got charged for a full year so if you do a full year be sure to know you definitely want to use it and that your situation isn’t too complicated.
Dave Ramsey for president. Save our country from drowning in debt.
After I created an account it was requesting a card for payment after the trial was over. My one star is because it came up as a free product when I search for a free product.
I started using this app a few months ago and it has really helped me to be more honest with my spending and understand ways to manage and control it better
This app used to be really great. But they’ve added more clicks to get to the budget. There’s more ads to go to premium and they take up more space. Been using this app for years.
I have been asking my husband to use this app for a while. He was hesitant because of the price. I convinced him that if we saved even the price of the app by using it, it would be a win. We found significant margin and were actually able to save it this month. It has more than paid for itself. I love the mini lessons each day. It’s like having a private coach!
This app has helped me to have a clear understanding of what my money is doing. Other apps have always confused me, but now I feel like I’m in complete control and there’s no guessing or confusion.
This app will help you ever so much to manage your money and not stress about it ever again. Spend time with it and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Believe me I always struggled with money all my life. I’m 44 yrs old and this is a tool I will use as long as it’s available.
Not visually pleasing and the categories are too narrow. You often have to create your own categories. However it is quick to learn your reoccurring transactions
every dollar is great
It was great for a while until about a year ago when I go to log in or create a new account it tries to get the the web page but it says “to many redirects” so I am unable to use the app. Please fix
I love this app - 5 stars all day. I use the free version and they harass me every time I upload a transaction to upgrade to premium. It is so frustrating that I stopped in the middle of entering transactions to give a bad review. LEAVE ME ALONE.
