This is by far the best and cheaper Quicken alternative I’ve been able to find Very easy to use And it gives you the ability to import all your quick data

Works well for downloading transactions and maintaining budget. Support is helpful but only available thru messaging. Unable to speak with anyone directly. Reasonable price but did increase after several years.

I tried to sign up for this app with an email that I use regularly. They gave me a message telling me to use a different email because their verification process had determined that my email was risky. I decided that their app is risky and deleted it.

I used to use quicken but wanted online cloud data, web and app access, and this tool does it all. In addition you get very responsive support unlike most software companies !

I have been using CountAbout for over 5 years. I use the web-based product on my computers and the iOS version on my iPad and iPhone. They have been incredibly responsive to any questions or concerns, and are constantly improving their iOS products.

I haven’t used a tracking/budgeting app in over a decade but coming up on retirement soon, I need to understand my spending habits. After reading about lots of options, I decided to try CountAbout. The price was right and they seem very concerned about data security and take appropriate measures. I’m 3 weeks into my 45-day trial (another selling point-a long free trial!) and have to say I really like it. It’s simple and easy to manage. Can access on my phone or laptop. Customizable categories and links to all the important accounts to bring in transactions.

Does the job and it is cheaper then quicken. Loging in and out is ok that is the only thing I would improve. Only $9.99 so I am happy.

I have sent 3 messages to Countabout about this, but no matter what password you attempt with signup, you get rejected for it being ‘a common password.’ Except every attempt was by my password manager and it is using a 50-character randomly generated password that is just a bunch of random letters, numbers, symbols and caps. I really want to try this as my Quicken subscription ends today and I would really like to not have to pay for it again.

I have been using the app for a couple weeks and I am very satisfied. I am able to see all of my accounts in one place and can forecast spending to then have a future plan on how to budget!

I would say that after 8 months of us it’s just average, it’s an OK aggregator when the backend synchronization process works, I do most of my real reports and budget tracking in Excel after downloading the transaction Support is mediocre at best and most of the time you need to find your own answer

When Quicken told me they could no longer support my MacBook Air I set out to find a replacement that I could do online. CountAbout is awesome. I could easily upload my Quicken data and it updates from my bank more seamlessly than with Quicken, and at a better price!

I’ve relied on CountAbout for several years. It does everything I need and is cloud-based. Perfect. Plus the developer of this small company is very responsive whenever glitches or bugs arise. However the app itself is nothing more than a bookmark to the website. The app has no specific functionality whatsoever.

When Mint went away, I had to find a replacement. I tried several others but found that CountAbout was the best for me. It does everything I need it to do.

I switched from Quicken and Count About is so much better and the price is right!

After actual YEARS of searching, I think I have finally found the perfect budgeting app for me! It is extremely customizable, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, the [optional] subscription is very reasonably priced. Finally, it has worked seamlessly, so far. Any issues I’ve encountered have been easy to figure out. I am thrilled!

Finally got fed up with the escalating price increase of Quicken and went looking for a more affordable option that still gives me transaction downloads. (And all of my years of Quicken data imported simply and cleanly.) CountAbout does that with full SaaS/cloud access via the web and a mobile app! You do give up traditional bank account reconciliation, but they have a helpful reconciliation summary in the upper right hand corner. Finally, it does NOT play nice with the Apple Card. I am continually having to "fix access", plus the transactions don't download even when it appears it is "fixed".

First I have to type my password in every time to login. Face ID does not seem to be enabled. In addition the biometrics they ask you to enable never works. Please fix these so I can continue to use and pay for the app.

Simple platform that helps me keep track of all my business expenses. I’d like a little bit more customization and features, but it gets the job done!

With the many bugs and ever increasing subscription cost of Quicken, I have searched for a long time for a replacement that suited my needs. I finally found CountAbout and while not perfect (what is?), it is darn close. It synchs with my chosen banks and accounts smoothly, something Quicken would not always do, and I was able to import my QIF files in minutes and accurately. I am able to synch across my windows laptop and iPhone and the app works very well. I can enter transactions manually and CountAbout does a great job matching them when doing a later download. The price is fair and as long as they keep it that way, I am delighted.

There’s plenty to like about this app—being able to import Quicken info when switching over, having all of your financial info at your fingertips, and an intuitive arrangement of the app—but if you can’t download information from your financial institution, it’s useless. Support is lacking. It’s been about 10 days since I first contacted them about the problem. They responded right away, but since the initial attempt to fix it—nothing. To add insult, I received an email today offering a discount (good for 3 days only) on the premium subscription which allows downloading from my bank. I would gladly PAY for this option. I’m trying to be patient, but they are not impressing this new customer!

I keep getting ..it wants me to scan a qr code for a passkey? When I scan it with my android phone, it says no passkeys available. Plus, I cannot even enter my password, won't let me. Help please

I wrote a bad review when the update came out. In this latest update you have fixed many of the issues. So happy because I was not looking forward to finding something new. Thanks again for listening!

You made an app that mirrors the website version. If I had a keyboard and mouse it would work well but it doesn't work well using fingers. I might as well just use the web version.

Just cancelled my 8 year run with you. If I wanted to use the awful web version I would use a browser. The app was amazing but sadly no longer.

As surprised to notice this week that countabout requires now a subscription model. No support for Apple Pay.

I just created an account and migrated my data from a quicken file. That was probably the best feature of this product. However, the dashboard is marginally useful - you can’t move the widgets around and some of the charts don’t display properly. Reports feature does not have charts. This mobile app is even worse. It doesn’t even display a chart from the dashboard widgets. There is no way to resize many of the displays either. It’s definitely NOT a better look than quicken but I need to abandon quicken due to tech synch and update issues. They’re getting worse.

When looking for an application to take the place of Quicken we came upon CountAbout. All of our many years of data in Quicken seamlessly transferred to CountAbout effortlessly.

After researching applications to replace Mint, I settled on CountAbout. The main reason was I thought I needed to be able to download a CSV file each year to run through a program I wrote to calculate income and expenses for my rental property. I’m still working on the conversion but I’m hoping I may be able to replace my program with a CountAbout report. They have a special setup for Schedule E categories. It costs $39.99 a year, which is about half of what I spend on TurboTax each year. It is well worth it to not have to scroll around all the advertising like Mint had. Credit Karma is even worse with ads and it doesn’t have the download ability.

Would be better if app (iPhone and iPad) could have full functionality of browser based app.

I was looking for an alternative to mint. Very happy with this. Very similar. Budget slightly harder to use but fairly equivalent

I’ve used quicken for years and it was always clunky with connections and investments. Countabout is a little less advanced, so perfect for a mainstream home user! So clean and so far no connection issues!

Used Quicken for many many years. Quicken just got too complicated and expensive. This is a great basic financial solution to keep track of your accounts. After spending a few minutes customizing the system to your personal accounts and needs it automatically updates information from your bank accounts daily. Give it a try.

After dealing with years of the Quicken Mac version not being update to have the same account type support as Quicken Windows we began looking for an alternative. We are very happy with CountAbout. Pulls transaction from all our acct (banking, investments, mortgage). It is web based and accessible everywhere. We love it. The app while not the fanciest user interface is quite powerful and works!!!

I was able to easily transfer my data from quicken to CountAbout. So far the app has been intuitive with few hiccups. I miss the detailed investment info, but turns out my brokerage site has everything I need! My only gripe has been trying to work with multiple transactions at once. I couldn't figure out how to unclear multiple transactions at once. The reason I wanted to do that was because the balances were off on one of my accounts after connecting to the bank (if you choose the correct start date, you won't have this problem). But I was able to sort it out!

The iOS app features all the essential functions. Frustratingly, it is very slow when entering transactions - spending about 30 seconds loading (what it is loading each time for so long isn’t clear) - slowing the entry of each transaction.

I found this accounting system easy to learn and use. Unfortunately, I usually wait until tax time to consolidate and update my bookkeeping transactions. I spend 7 straight days using CountAbout playing catch up. Thankfully, it achieved its purpose.

I created an account and every time I’d try to go to “transactions” or anything, the program would get stuck on loading for minutes, forcing me to refresh. Doing so would then start me on the home page with their welcome pop up. Running across so many issues starting a program was annoying enough. I can’t imagine how bad it’d be after inputting all my information! I decided to cut my losses.

I’m switching! Have used Quicken since 1998!! But in 2019 I was informed that they were moving to subscription only cloud based and would no longer provide software for my Microsoft computer. I’m sick of companies picking my pocket with monthly or yearly subscriptions for little or no extra service! Quicken charged $70 in 2019 and two years later it was $130! I don’t download from my institutions so this app is $10 a year. Goodbye, Quicken!

I have been using this program for over a year now. I help a lot of people with finances and this is the program I recommend over and over again. I tried several different ones and this is the most straightforward. I was a Quicken customer for many years but they got expensive and their program went down hill. This program has way better customer service, ease of use and affordability.

This program is so easy to use and has great budget and reporting features. I do most of my work on the web version and use the app for quick check ins or transaction adds on the go. Love it!

I used quicken for many many years. Switched to CountAbout a few years ago and what a difference. It simply works. The few times I had a question they were quick to respond! I highly recommend count about.

Made the switch from Mint to CountAbout due to its ability to import Mint exports. So far I’m pretty happy. I like the simplicity of this application and the ability to manually import financial institution transaction exports if needed…something Mint does not let you do should you have an institution that doesn’t support (or breaks) an automatic download interface. I think the UI could use a bit of an update and some of the functions could be organized a bit better to be more intuitive; however, overall I do like the flexibility this tool offers once you get familiar with it.

Over the years I’ve tried several personal finance softwares and either they don’t have the basic features such as auto importing transactions or it’s the other extreme of a bunch of features I won’t use but have to pay for anyways. CountAbout is perfect for me. I wanted a simple ‘checkbook’ ledger for all my accounts including credit cards. This is it. Also easily tracks my bills and budget and has option to auto log these in my choice of advance. Makes it easy to balance my accounts and know my balances today and in the future. Definitely recommend! The only bug I’ve noticed is that when I manually add a transaction and then it downloads transactions from bank, it doesn’t always match the two up so it may try to duplicate some so I just keep an eye on that.

CountAbout is very easy to use. I’ve had a couple of issues over the years but their care team is very responsive and fixes are done quickly.

I made the switch and do not regret it. The ease and precision of transfer was a great relief. Adding financial institutions, loans and credit cards in addition to my quicken accounts is so much easier. I had been with Quicken for over 20 years and it has been frustrating for years. Now I know my accounts are accurate and up-to-date without having to view my accounts on line at the same time to download and compare. I like the iPhone app, never had one with Quicken

I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to Quicken. I had no issues with syncing it to my existing Quicken. I have only been using it for a few weeks with no issues

Countabout has been great for me because I can use it across all my devices from Windows, to Mac, to mobile!
